This is how it's looking around here right now.
This is the first time the puppies have been in snow, and it's deeper than they are tall!!
They are 10-month-old Miniature Longhair Dachshunds (although Sorrel, on the left in the above photo, right below, is now at Standard Doxie weight). As you can see, my older dog, Saffron is a large-breed dog. She is a Great Pyrenees, and weighs about 5 times as much as Sorrel. I have never really been drawn to small breed dogs - until now. I've read this before, and I'd have to agree, Doxies are like a large dog in a small body. I'm infatuated. We are blessed to have Sorrel's sister, Sinemin, living with us as well. She is my daughter's dog, because she actually, probably saved her life when she was born. The owners let her have her because of this. I'm so glad to have the both of them. Doxie's are full of energy (especially at this age), and it really helps to have them keep each other occupied. They are fun to watch play-fighting, all teeth and viscious snarls. And at night they have each other to curl up with and keep warm.
